Terms of Service
Draft — not yet in effect. These Terms take effect only once the items in the Operator fill-in block are completed and the effective date is set. They are provided as-is and are not legal advice.
Effective date: not in effect until set (see Operator fill-in). Last updated: see Operator fill-in.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Sigildex API, MCP server, command-line interface, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by the entity named in the Operator fill-in block below ("Sigildex", "we", "us"). By accessing or using the Service — including by sending any request to the API, invoking any MCP tool, or submitting any payment — you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. There are no accounts to register; your assent is manifested by the act of calling the Service or paying for it. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization, and "you" includes that organization.
If you operate an autonomous agent or other automated system that calls the Service, you are responsible for that system's use of the Service and for ensuring its operator has agreed to these Terms.
2. Description of the Service
Sigildex is a headless skill-discovery and verification API for AI agents. It indexes publicly available SKILL.md content and metadata from public source platforms (such as GitHub), computes our own trust and safety signals, and returns ranked discovery, inspection, and verification results that reference and link to the original sources. There are no user accounts; identity is the calling wallet address (for paid requests) and the request IP address (for the free tier and rate limiting).
The Service exposes POST /discover (ranked search), POST /inspect (full SKILL.md content, provenance, and a lockfile-ready pin block for one selected skill), and the free GET /verify (re-check a skill you already hold by source URL or content hash). To operate the Service, Sigildex stores and serves copies of indexed SKILL.md content. The underlying skills are authored by third parties, not by us. Any download, installation, or use of a skill is governed by that skill's own license and the terms of the platform that hosts it — not by these Terms. The Service is provided for discovery and evaluation; it is not a software distribution channel, app store, or escrow, and we do not sell, endorse, or take responsibility for any indexed skill.
3. Free tier, pay-per-workflow, and payment
- The first 50 discovery workflows per day per IP address are free.
/verifyis always free. - Beyond the free tier, each discovery workflow costs $0.002 USDC, paid via the x402 protocol on the Base network (chain
eip155:8453). A discovery workflow is one/discovercall plus up to five free/inspectcalls using the returnedquery_idwithin its one-hour validity window;/inspectwithout a validquery_idis also a paid call. - Payments are processed through a third-party payment facilitator (Coinbase Developer Platform). Sigildex is non-custodial and does not hold, transmit, or forward your funds beyond per-request settlement of the fee for the call you make. You are solely responsible for your wallet, your private keys, and any network or gas costs.
- By submitting a payment for a paid request, you reaffirm your agreement to these Terms and authorize the corresponding fee.
- Pricing, free-tier limits, and supported payment methods may change; changes apply prospectively and will be reflected on the Service and in its published machine-readable descriptors (for example
/.well-known/x402.json). - Except as required by applicable law, paid requests are non-refundable. On-chain transactions are irreversible and outside our control.
4. Acceptable use
This section is the Service's Acceptable Use Policy. (It is presented here as a section of these Terms; we may publish it as a standalone policy in the future.) You agree not to, and not to permit your agents or systems to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law, regulation, sanctions regime, or third-party right;
- abuse, overload, disrupt, or impair the Service, or attempt to circumvent rate limits, the free-tier cap, payment, or any access control;
- scrape, harvest, or systematically extract the index or results in order to mirror, republish, resell, or build a competing or substitute corpus of the indexed content or our derived signals;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach or circumvent its security or authentication, except via our published vulnerability-reporting channel;
- misrepresent the origin of requests, or use another party's wallet or identifiers without authorization;
- use the Service to discover, obtain, distribute, or facilitate malware or other materials intended to cause harm, or in any way that infringes intellectual-property or privacy rights.
We may rate-limit, suspend, or block access (including by IP address or wallet address) to protect the Service or other users. Responsible security research conducted in good faith through our reporting channel is welcome — see reporting a vulnerability.
5. Third-party skills and indexed content — your responsibility to vet
Sigildex indexes and serves content we did not create. The SKILL.md files, metadata, licensing information, and source links surfaced by the Service are authored and published by third parties on public platforms. We do not control, author, endorse, or guarantee any of it. You acknowledge and agree that:
- indexed content may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, misleading, offensive, unlawful, infringing, or malicious, and may contain or reference executable code, scripts, or instructions that could be harmful if run;
- licensing and provenance metadata may be wrong, missing, or stale — you must independently confirm a skill's actual license and source before relying on it;
- responsibility for indexed content rests with the third-party publisher who created and published it, not with Sigildex; and
- you are solely responsible for reviewing, vetting, and testing any skill before installing, executing, or relying on it, and you assume all risk arising from doing so.
6. Safety verdicts and trust signals are best-effort, not guarantees
Sigildex's safety verdicts, recommended-action labels, and trust signals are our own automated assessments, provided on a best-effort basis as advisory signals only — they are not guarantees, certifications, or warranties. They are produced by automated analysis and may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Critically, they assess only the SKILL.md content and metadata signals — they do not evaluate bundled scripts, dependencies, transitive packages, install-time behavior, or runtime behavior. Script contents are never analyzed. A skill that reports no bundled scripts in its registry metadata may still ship scripts; check the inspect manifest for bundle evidence and review it yourself.
A favorable verdict (for example, "safe" or "safe to install") is not a certification that a skill is safe, lawful, fit for any purpose, or free of malicious or harmful behavior, and an unfavorable verdict is not a definitive judgment about any author. You — and any agent acting on your behalf — are solely responsible for independently reviewing, vetting, and testing any skill before installing, executing, or relying on it. Do not use Sigildex verdicts as your only safety control. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability arising from your reliance on any verdict, label, ranking, or trust signal.
7. Intellectual property
The Service itself — including the Sigildex name and marks, the website, the API design, and our computed rankings, trust, and safety signals — is owned by the operator named below or its licensors and is protected by applicable law. The open-source Sigildex software is made available under the MIT license; nothing in these Terms grants you rights in our names, marks, or hosted Service beyond the limited right to use the Service as intended.
Indexed content is not ours. SKILL.md files and related metadata surfaced by the Service are the property of their respective authors and are made available by those authors on public platforms under their own licenses. Your rights to use any indexed skill are governed solely by that skill's own license and the terms of the platform hosting it, not by these Terms. If you are a rights holder and believe indexed content infringes your rights, see our DMCA / content takedown policy.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT, RESULTS, RANKINGS, METADATA, AND SAFETY VERDICTS PROVIDED THROUGH IT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT IT OR ANY INDEXED CONTENT IS FREE OF VIRUSES, MALWARE, OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, RELEVANCE, LEGALITY, OR SAFETY OF ANY DISCOVERY RESULT, RANKING, METADATA, LICENSING INFORMATION, OR SAFETY VERDICT, OR OF ANY THIRD-PARTY SKILL OR SOURCE. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE AND OF ANY SKILL YOU DISCOVER THROUGH IT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SIGILDEX AND ITS OPERATOR, OFFICERS, MEMBERS, AND CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR FUNDS, OR FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM ANY THIRD-PARTY SKILL OR CONTENT DISCOVERED THROUGH THE SERVICE OR FROM YOUR RELIANCE ON ANY SAFETY VERDICT, RANKING, OR SIGNAL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US$50). The limitations in this section do not apply to liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, and (to the extent applicable law would otherwise permit such limitation) do not apply to our own fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, infringement of your intellectual-property rights, or breach of our confidentiality obligations. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
10. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sigildex and its operator and contributors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law or third-party right, or your installation or use of any skill discovered through the Service.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, including for any violation of these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including third-party content, intellectual property, disclaimer of warranties, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — survive.
12. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may modify or discontinue the Service, or update these Terms, at any time. Material changes to these Terms will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, by additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to any applicable arbitration or other dispute-resolution mechanism confirmed with counsel and added here, the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in the Texas county identified in the Operator fill-in block for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.
